EMI Publishing Promotes Two Execs

Emi_logo EMI Music Publishing has promoted two insiders to new roles within its NY based licensing division.

Kristin Durie is now VP of Music Services & Licensing. See will manage EMI Publishing’s relationship with the major TV networks, and work with the company’s Film & Soundtrack unit in LA.

Jovanka Ciares has been promoted to Senior Director of Music Services & Licensing, with overall responsibility for EMI Publishing’s activities in merchandising and its relationships with key US advertising agencies.

Chrysalis Rejects EMI Bid. Stops Sale.

Chrysalis CREDIT CRUNCH ADDS TO INDUSTRY TROUBLES

Chrysalis Publishing announced today that it has rejected a 155p per share cash offer for the company. The company declined to name the bidder but sources with knowledge of the deal say it was EMI.  Chrysalis shares fell sharply.

Chrysalis claims the offer “significantly undervalues” the company and that it has stopped looking for a buyer. It claimed that global and credit market conditions had stopped it from getting full value for its assets.

EMI Publishing Signs Elizondo

Emi_logo EMI Music Publishing has signed a global deal with writer and producer Mike Elizondo. Elizondo has written for artists as diverse as Eminem, Natasha Bedingfield, Eric Clapton and Gwen Stefani and was this year nominated for the Producer of the Year Grammy for his work on Maroon 5’s "It Won’t Be Soon Before Long".

EMI Publishing UK Ups Felix Howard To VP A&R

Emi EMI Music Publishing UK has promoted Felix Howard to Vice President of A&R. Howard, who was previously A&R Manager, is a successful songwriter in his own right, and has written tracks for artists including Sugababes, Amy Winehouse, Sia, Beverley Knight, Kylie Minogue and Freeform 5.

He joined EMI Music Publishing two years ago, having been signed to the company for eight years as a writer. His signings include Calvin Harris, Sam Sparro, Primary1, Natty, James McMorrow, Diane Birch, James Yuill and Wesley Felix.

Warner Chappell Signs Oscar Winners Hansard & Irglova

Warner Chappell Music has signed a worldwide publishing agreement with singer/songwriter duo Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, winners of this year's "Best Original Song" Oscar for "Falling Warner_chappell_2 Slowly"  from the film "Once".

Under the agreement, Warner/Chappell Music will administer Hansard's and Irglova's catalog of work, including songs written by Hansard as a member of the band The Frames, music from Hansard's and Irglova's debut album, "The Swell Season" and songs from the "Once" soundtrack, as well as their future compositions.

Warner Chappell Names New CFO

Warner_chappell Warner Chappell Music, the publishing arm of Warner Music Group today announced that Brian Roberts has been named Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). An industry veteran with more than 22 years of financial, strategic and operational experience, Roberts will be responsible for financial planning, budgeting and reporting for Warner/Chappell Music.

Roberts succeeds Warner/Chappell CFO Nick Thomas, who has decided to return to his home in the U.K. Roberts also assumes Thomas' role as head of the World Administration Committee. (more)
