There have been a few discussions circulating the web lately about unpaid internships in the music industry being worth it or not. The fact remains that the entertainment and music sectors continue to be areas where many people are willing to work for free, so companies need not pay interns.
But speaking from personal experience, unpaid internships are only worth as much as the overall experience the intern can create from the internship.

Spotify hasn't completed its deals with U.S. record labels, but that hasn't stopped the music streamer from ramping up its hiring here. "Spotify is looking for rock star engineers and product people in NYC!" the company tweeted on Friday, even in the midst of an online attack that forced it to pull third party ads from the site.

MySpace is considering massive layoffs that could cut as much as 50% of the struggling social network's 1100 person workforce according to a several sources.
