eMusic Tops 200M Downloads, Strengthens EU Team

Emusic eMusic today announced that it has sold more than 200 million downloads since establishing its subscription model 11/03.  The total includes downloads sold in the U.S. and E.U., where eMusic has been available 10/06.  The company says it is now delivered more than 7 million tracks a month across all territories to subscribers.

eMusic also strengthened its EU presence today with the appointment of Madeleine Milne to the position of managing director, Europe and James Wheatley as director of business development, Europe.

Based in London, Milne will have overall responsibility for the development and marketing of eMusic’s business in Europe. Wheatley will be responsible for developing partnerships with mobile network operators, hardware manufacturers, ISPs, retailers and media companies.

Milne has been with eMusic since 2006. Wheatley joins from Muze where he was Director of Business Development for Europe.
