Virgin Digital is shutting its US music subscription service and offering a free 3 month Napster trial to

Subscription services have gained little traction with consumers and more recently Microsoft has made it clear that it is not aggressively supporting it's own Play-For-Sure technology which powers both Virgin and Napster as it promotes it's new Zune closed technology.
