Nettwork Management's McBride To Fight RIAA Lawsuits

Canada's Nettwerk Management head Terry McBride is doing what somebody representing artists should have done long ago - take on the RIAA.  The company who manages Avril Lavigne, The Bare Naked Ladies, Dido, Sarah McLachlan and others has decided that enough is enough.

"Suing music fans is not the solution, it's the problem," stated Terry McBride,  C.E.O of Nettwerk Music Group.  He's fighting back with his wallet and a lawyer who will fight on behalf of at least one 15 year old and her family sued by the industry trade group for downloading. Nettwerk Music has agreed to pay the total expense of all legal fees as well as any fines should the family lose the case against the RIAA.

"Litigation is not 'artist development.' Litigation is a deterrent to creativity and passion and it is hurting the business I love," insists McBride. "The current actions of the RIAA are not in my artists' best interests."

Kudos to Teri McBride and the artists that he represents.  Alienating fans had never been the solution to the music industry's woes. Read the full press release here.
